Meet The Coaches

Zee Brod

Zee Brod eats, sleeps, and breathes his passion of CrossFit. The Sport of Fitness has affected his mind, body and soul allowing him to pursue his passion and leave his job of eight years to help and lead others on the path to an amazing healthy life. Zee has a vast athletic background being involved in sports all of his life. He was a star point guard in high school and then discovered his love of the weight room. An avid gym rat, Zee worked with several trainers and was very close to opening a personal training business several times. However, when Zee found CrossFit his true calling was found and he decided that every day, every workout, every person, caused the rest his life to fall into place. Zee is a CrossFit Level 1 Coach, USAW Level 1 Coach, an Underground Strength Coach, CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certified, WITS certified, and has an Olympic lifting certification from Charles Staley.

Brian Jaffe

Brian Jaffe has found his truest, best self through CrossFit. Driven by the constant pursuit of excellence and motivated by his unwavering passion, Brian has realized his goal to help make people better. Brian has been active most of his life, playing intramural basketball in college but grew tired of hitting the regular gym routine. Brian then discovered CrossFit and something inside of him changed as he was provided the proper channel to express his passion for health and fitness. Brian is a nutrition enthusiast who believes that a sustainable healthy lifestyle begins with proper diet. Brian has a B.A. in Business Administration from the UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business, is a CrossFit Level 1 Coach, USAW Level 1 Coach, an Underground Strength Coach, CrossFit Olympic lifting Certified and is Charles Staley Olympic lifting certified.

Nikki Coletta

Nikki has always had a love for sports and competition. Even as young child she would play and watch sports as much as she could; however, it was not an easy road to play them as by the age of 10 she had 3 open heart surgeries and suffered significant hearing loss (thank god for much advanced technology on hearing aids J). Knowing how fortunate she is as a survivor, she realizes how lucky she is to just be in the arena, win or lose. Throughout her life she has played soccer, trained and competed in Kung Fu for 8 years, even going to China twice for extensive training. She is an avid runner who has completed several races, including a Marathon. Nikki found CrossFit almost 4 years ago when she moved out west from Washington DC to pursue a Visual Effects career. She has been a dedicated athlete and competitor ever since. While she still has a profound love of the arts and continues to paint, draw and sculpt any chance she gets, CrossFit is her passion that has given her wings, and there has been nothing more rewarding than to be a part of such an amazing community. Coaching is a way for her to give back to the CrossFit family she has gotten so much from. She wants to show people there is an athlete in all of us. By beating the odds herself, she knows that no matter what obstacles stand in your way, they can be broken through! Nikki is CrossFit Level 1 Certified, CrossFit Gymnastics Certified, CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certified, CrossFit Power Lifting Certified and has an Olympic Lifting Certificate from Charles Staley.

Don Hostler

For over 20 years, Don Hostler has been a fitness instructor and celebrity trainer in California. His recent discovery of CrossFit developed into a new passion; a passion he once had as an aerobics competitor that won him a US National Silver medal in the late 90’s. Working every day to improve on the 10 fundamentals of CrossFit gives him a drive to work hard on every workout. Helping other people achieve their goals, gain confidence, get stronger and feel better is what fuels him to coach others. Don has a B.S. in Business Administration from Oregon State University, is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, ACE and AFAA certified Fitness Instructor. He teaches Flying Trapeze at Trapeze School New York (TSNY) in Santa Monica and is a music clearance and licensor the FOX TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Chris Tresp

Chris Tresp is a Level 1 CrossFit Instructor, and has been a CrossFit athlete since 2009 when he began by trying workouts found on the CrossFit “Main Site”. Chris is passionately an advocate for the CrossFit methodology and its ability to deliver quantifiable, measurable results, and believes that setting goals that are performance based drives the best results.

As the Director of CrossFit Sport at Cave Crossfit, Chris specializes in helping athletes prepare for competitions and other events outside of the box, and encourages all athletes to get out and compete as often as they have the chance. Chris strongly believes that the spirit of competition lies within each and every one of us, and that an athlete can achieve their absolute full potential when they put 100% focus into doing their best under the pressure that is inherent in any competitive environment.

Chris has competed in numerous CrossFit competitions throughout Southern California and relentlessly trains to improve his own level of fitness. Outside of the gym, Chris is a commercial real estate professional, specializing in multi-family investment properties, and earned his Bachelor of Music/Business Management Degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

Andrew Warwick

Andrew was born and raised in Visalia, CA and has been playing sports since he can remember. He started getting really into weight training and working out consistently when he was 13 years old. At age 19 Andrew moved to San Diego to play football and to earn his degree in Kinesiology as well as personal training certifications from ISSA and NSCA. After college he was a personal trainer and Boxing coach at San Diego's premiere boxing club. He also participated in Jiu Jitsu tournaments to help stay conditioned and fuel his competitive nature.

Wanting a change in his life Andrew moved to Los Angeles in January of 2012 and was immediately introduced to CrossFit by one of his friends. From there he earned his Level 1 CrossFit Trainer certificate and has never looked back! Andrew loves CrossFit because it gives you that same feeling as you get when you compete in sports. Besides that, it is always challenging, and no matter how good you think you are, you can always be so much better. He has personally changed so much because of CrossFit and the change that he has seen in so many other people is unexplainable. He has always had a passion for fitness and helping others, and he hopes to do this through CrossFit for the rest of his life.

Melissa Vickers

Melissa Vickers began CrossFitting January 2013. It only took her two classes to realize she was hooked. In August 2013, Melissa decided to take her love of CrossFit to the next level by attending and completing the CrossFit Level 1 Trainer course. She then decided to go further in her journey by getting her CrossFit Kids certification. Melissa's love for children and passion for CrossFit gave her the idea to start up CrossFit Kids programs. Melissa wants to get children all over Los Angeles up and moving through CrossFit. She currently co-runs another CrossFit Kids program in West Hollywood.

Melissa also has a background in dance. A former dancer and choreographer from Atlanta, GA, she started her dance career at age 18, when she was accepted into the prestigious internship program at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. In addition, Melissa has experience in musical theater and acting. After moving to Los Angeles in 2003, she began teaching Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, and Ballet to children and adults all over Los Angeles. She is excited to join the Cave CrossFit community.

Brandon Mills

Brandon Mills is a physical fitness and health expert who has been training the greater Los Angeles area since 2010. He holds a Bachelor's Degree, from the University of Southern California, in Kinesiology and Human Performance and truly understands that every body is unique, Brandon spends quality time getting to know each client then creates a detailed and unique program involving fitness as well as nutritional and lifestyle choices.

Adding to his expertise, Brandon participated in a research opportunity that allowed him to discover his true passion, fighting childhood obesity. He administered the Presidential Fitness examinations in inner city Los Angeles elementary schools while in attendance at the University of Southern California. Through these examinations he wrote a physical fitness and nutritional journal for area Boys and Girls Clubs and assisted in the development of after-school programs encouraging children to get up, get active and participate in a healthy lifestyle. Brandon discovered another passion in January of 2012 when he teamed up with a CrossFit Professional and began a weekly radio show on Global Voice Broadcasting: Fitness Friday with Two Smart Dumbbells. This hour long segment allows listeners to call in with questions, comments or personal stories while listening to the different weekly topics. The show is upbeat, positive and has a sense of humor that makes the goal of being fit and living a healthy lifestyle fun and attainable.
